POP BART - How Bart Simpson shaped Pop Culture

Bart Simpson is a pretty big deal. I'm not gonna lie. Lisa is my homegirl. She's a meat-free riot girl and my cartoon bff. But, Bart is pretty cool too.

This kid knows about doing your thing, being all kinds of rebellious, but still being a top dude at the end of the day, too. Also, he has the moves 'like Jagger.' (Exhibit A). How can I not put his face on beanies! 

I'm sure you already know how much I love, and am mildly obsessed with, pop culture. The Simpsons are kind of the epitome of it to me.

To be honest I don't really watch too many of the new episodes. It's those that I had on video tapes, that I'd watch every night in my weird attic bedroom that I can recite every line to, they give me full on nostalgia vibes (Exhibit B).

Granny Chic

I don't know what it is about floral dresses lately! I'm forever thinking in northern hemisphere terms.

This granny chic dress reminds me of The Virgin Suicides, though, and I will never pass on an opportunity to emulate that vibe!

The boots are actually my Mam's but they seem to be looking good with almost everything lately so on my feet they will stay!

Completely unrelated, but, do you know of any amazing Etsy (or just online!) shops, do you run one? I really want to start buying more from independent designers and creators and would love to find more shops! Hit me up!

Florals in Autumn

Can we just talk about this belt for a second? My mam has had it since I can remember and some way along the road I claimed it as my own. I don't know how but it somehow has the power to make any outfit badass.

I definitely recommend googling '80s Moschino.' I would not mind my whole wardrobe consisting of that magic!

Pink Leopard

There's just something about leopard and hot pink, especially glittery hot pink (with a cute black collar that you can't even see in these pictures - oops!).

I've barely been wearing jewellery lately, I think it's because I'm constantly making jewellery, or I'm just being lazy - but I need to start piles the rings on again! I just can't neglect my collection like this!

For months I'll only wear minimal jewellery then, suddenly, I'll have bangles up to my elbows and rings on every finger!

Are you minimal or maximal when it comes to jewellery? Or fleeting and undecided, like me?

Long Live Princess Ariel

I thrifted this skirt a couple of weeks ago. It was originally part of one of those 90s prom suits that remind me of 10 things I hate about you. I don't know whether it was the 90s theme, that it was the exact colour of Ariel's tail, or that it is actually long enough for me to wear as a maxi skirt, but I knew we were meant to be.

While my hair is still orange I might as well dress up as my favourite Disney Princess as often as possible.

Must Love Cats - Daily Outfit

Sometimes you've just got to go pastel.

I made this cardigan a while ago and have been wearing it religiously. Lilac, peplum, lace and cats?! Pretty epic.

The other day I bought my flights to London! I am crazy excited and cannot wait to frolic around Europe all July. This is definitely gonna motivate me through writing a 5000 word literature review over the next few weeks! Can't wait to go back to Euro Disney, admire the buildings in Barcelona and eat everything in Italy!

I left England over 7 years ago and haven't been back yet so this will be really weird and special for me.

If you know of any amazing places that I just can't miss, basically anywhere in Europe, then let me know! Also, where are the best places to shop in London?

Poppin' Tags

I found this gem of a jacket recently and it immediately became one of my favies. LOOK AT THAT PRINT! Thank you, 80s.

This Moschino belt was my Mam's but the original belt died a long time ago and I finally (after about 5 years) found a perfect replacement belt. 80s Moschino had it going on! Seriously, google it. Thanks again, 80s.

Kaleidoscope Kasual

This jacket is the business. It's one half of a seriously fierce 80s business suit that I fully intend on wearing together one of these days. The shoddy lighting of pretty much every photo I take doesn't reveal it's glimmery perfection. Unless I'm looking through the viewfinder photos just seem to turn into a grainy mess!

My cat is the biggest creep. She's lurks in the back of almost every photo. Go and do your own catty things.

Barbie's Dream Dress

This might just be the greatest dress I've ever laid my eyes upon. It's like walking around in a collage of Barbie pinkness. I found this gem while procrastinating on ebay and, man, am I glad I have such awful study habits! It seemed only naturally to wear my Barbie Hands necklace with it because I'm a sucker for themed outfits.

I'm not too sure what else to say apart from this dress now rules my life. What do you think: Tacky Barbie - chic or freak?

Autumn Vibez

It's barely Autumn, I mean, I was boiling wearing this jacket and tights, but, nevertheless, I'm excited for my favourite season! Here in Queensland it's getting cool enough for me to bust out my vintage jacket collection but I haven't yet turned into the Gigantic Baby that surfaces every winter.

Weird Face et Kitty Cat

Would it be weird if I said I was enjoying Uni? Yeah, that's weird. That's so weird for me. But, seriously, I'm doing my thesis on Speciesism and I get excited about stuff like that. At the moment I'm happy hanging around in the library all day and making jewels by night. It's like a significantly less cool version of Cat Woman.

Also, I have no idea what my face is doing. It just happens sometimes (all the time).

In The Shop

I gazed longingly at the Cat heart appliqued skater dress with a studded collar and perfectly perfect floaty-ness for a solid 10 minutes before I finally pushed myself to list it on in my shop (unfortunately I don't have the charisma to convince myself to keep a dress that won't actually zip up past my breasticles). It sold pretty much straight away and I will live to regret it for the rest of my days (but seriously, thank you buyer!).

PASTEL PUKE

I found this dress in a pile at my favourite charity shop and I felt like I found gold! The colour is just beautiful and I think it's even handmade - complete gem! My sister got me the bag as a gift and I may have had a minor heart attack when she gave me it. Lilac! Bow! Handle?! STUDS! It's all too much.

My creepers barely leave my feet lately so much so that I've even been eyeing up a light pink and Dalmatian print pair. I might just have to! Obviously, I had to top my babies off with some lace trimmed socks. I made a tutorial for them a while ago but if you rather grab some made up for you I've listed them in PIXIEandPIXIER now!

This is going to be a week of planning, making lists, and sewing dresses. All my favourites!

QUEEN OF POP

I've been cutting my t-shirts - again! Somedays it's just way to hot to wear a full length tee, you know, I simply have no choice but to slice half of it off. Sorry MJ!

These shorts are my favies. I got them from Forever21 when I was in Hawaii last year because I stupidly packed like one pair of shorts and then felt bad for paying over $20 for shorts. Sometimes I'm so stingy. However, the babies have definately had their wear. I can't say no to orange and pink, it makes everything look like the 60s.

Daily Outfit - AS IF!

As part of my life-long goal to organise my room, I've been going through my wardrobe - again. I got a huge bag of things to donate but I thought I'd put some aside and try and alter them so I actually wear them. This sweater is one of those things. It was a weird, hideous thing that I know I only bought because it was pink and about $3.

Daily Outfit - I HATE MONDAYS

There are two things I love in life: cats and 80s New Wave bands. Now, to find a top that references both of those, well, that's obviously nothing short of a miracle. My sister got me it as a christmas present from this really cool shop called The Lot in South Africa.

I wore this outfit to post PIXIE orders and go to my favourite burger place, Kofte Burger. Seriously, if anybody lives on the Gold Coast go to Habour Town right now and order the Veggie Burger. Your life will change forever.

I got this amazeballs sweater a few months ago and have been living in it ever since. The arms are a little short on me and it's kinda scratchy but, I don't know if you've noticed, it's covered in Bart 'El Barto' Simpson and therefore I will love it forevermore.

My sissy got me the GOLDFISH HANDBAG (!!!) for christmas I love it with the power of a thousand suns. 




When wearing such a sweater what is one to do but to keep accessorising within this historic family. I made this Lisa necklace forever ago but because I'm lazy so busy I haven't had the chance to list it. BUT it's up for grabs now: here!




These shoes are amazing but look kind of orthopedic here. Whatever. They're from Woolworths in South Africa which is an amazing shop and sells only cruelty free cosmetics and household products, so, yeah, it's perfecto.
